We know that this should be a widespread problem for every over watch players but don’t worry; here in this guide, we will explain the complete focus guide on increasing FPS in over watch.

Even if you have the best goal, you can slip behind Overwatch’s competition with frame rates below average.

Generally, for a smooth gaming experience, you will desire average frame rates above 60fps. For players with high refresh rates, higher frame rates are beneficial.

While you can find alternative means of improving your frame rate, such as updating your drivers or OS and eliminating additional Windows capabilities, altering your in-game settings makes more frames easier.

Although many competitive players have powerful hardware, they nevertheless strive hard to combine performance and visual fidelity.

The following settings are intended; however, if you still do not obtain the results you require, you can further drop your graphic settings.

Once the adjustments are applied, Overwatch can look somewhat worse than your default setting because the game automatically favours visual quality. The difference in the frame rate will, however, be more than sufficient to warrant the changes.

If you do not have problems with the same number of frames as the refresh rate for your monitor, you can also adjust your options to improve your image quality while retaining your average fps.

Overwatch System Requirements

Let’s talk about the system requirements of the game by kicking things off. When it comes to overwatch FPS difficulties, we realize that this may lead to possible PC hardware upgrades that are expensive, but this is a must for Overwatch on your PC. It is therefore vital to play Overwatch on your PC.

See the exact system requirements for Overwatch below for more details:

Requirements minimum (30 Fps)

  • OS: 64-bit Windows Vista/7/ 8/10
  • CPU: i3 Intel Core or X3 865 AMD Phenom
  • ATI Radeon HD 4850, or Intel HD Graphics 4400 GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 460.
  • RAM: VRAM 768 MB, System RAM 4 GB.
  • HDD: 7200 RPM with 5 GB HD space available

Suggested Requirements (60 plus Fps)

  • OS: 64-bit Windows Vista/7/ 8/10 (latest Service Pack)
  • Intel Core GTX 660 or ATI Radeon HD 7950 CPU: Intel Core i5 or AMD Phenom II X3, 2.8 GHz GPU.
  • RAM: 2 GB of VRAM, 6 GB of RAM System
  • HDD: 7200 RPM with 5 GB of HD space available

Furthermore, we suggest you at least equal Overwatch’s recommended system requirements if you want the best possible experience.

It is because running the game according to its minimum requirements eventually leads to specific fps problems in the game.

Frame Rate Issues Overwatch

Now that system requirement are out of the question, let’s continue with the more sophisticated solutions to help you with Overwatch frame problems.

The first solution includes the graphics of the game. The change of these settings can raise your overall FPS in the game considerably.

In-game settings

Start Overwatch, pick Menu Options, and open Video Register. I’ll teach you how to set each maximum performance option.

Video

Display Mode: Fullscreen.

Full-Screen performance is the best choice; however, if you have a multi-monitor setup and want to move swiftly on another display, you might pick Borderless Windows.

Note: by hitting Alt+Enter on your keyboard, you can transition from Full Screen to Borderless Window.

Target Display: Monitor #.

Specify the monitor used to play the game or choose Best Match.

Resolution: use your native one.

It is recommended for a more incredible view to use your native resolution; however, lowering the answer will significantly enhance your fps if you need a speed boost. In general, 720p is a solid compromise between quality and performance.

View field: 103.

It is a reasonably personal choice, although almost all pro players in Overwatch want to maximize the FoV.

A broader field of view (FOV) enhances peripheral vision, but at the same time, it can have a fisheye effect. Lower settings will improve your performance in any circumstance.

Aspect Ratio: use your native one.

It’s up to your display. Today, the vast majority of monitors have a ratio of 16:9.

VSync: Off.

Triple Buffering: Off.

Triple Buffering adds delay; hence you won’t allow it.

Buffering reduction: On.

Zuvykree, Blizzard’s customer support, detailed this setting:

“Buffering reduction is intended to reduce the input lag. It is done by lowering the pre-rendered frames to less.

It is typically advisable to turn this feature on while your FPS meets or exceeds your monitor’s maximum refresh rate.

Example: 60Hz monitor with 70+FPS consistently in the game (turn it on). You can either quit or change other settings to raise the FPS if you hit under 60FPS on a 60Hz monitor.”

In the video below, Battle(non)sense tested, among other things, the influence of this setting. Reduce buffering results in a 14ms lag decrease at 66 fps and a 3ms lag decrease at 300 fps.

Limit FPS: Custom or Display-based.

It is the cap of the fps. I propose that you keep it at the same rate as your monitor refresh (60, 120, 144Hz).

The highest value is 300. In the past, by adjusting the FrameRateCap value of the Settings v0.ini file (Documents > Overwatch > Settings), you have increased this value to 400. But Blizzard has prohibited any manual action in the Overwatch settings and deactivated this option (and a lot more).

Note: if your system is not adequately cooled, unlocking your frame rate could create overheating problems as many frames as feasible.

Graphic Quality: Low.

If the fps increase is maximized, select the Preset Low and click on the Advanced tab.

Ensure all is set to low or off (if possible), even with the Low Prefix. The game does not disable Anti-Aliase but sets it on Low-FXAA.

If you want to boost graphic quality at the expense of some frames, I advise that you increase the quality of textures and the model details for a better view.

You may also consider not disabling the shadows because they can help detect opponents in some scenarios (behind you or on top of buildings).

Rendering Scale: 100% or 75%

I recommend that this option not be changed unless you need higher fps. Reducing the setting down to 100% will provide more performance at the expense of blurred textures. The minimal value you should consider is 75 per cent.

It is crucial to point out that some players say that 75% of the enemy contour looks more apparent, but I think this is entirely an issue of personal opinion.

  • The other parameters (gamma correction, contrast, brightness, colour-blind options) do not influence the frames.
  • That’s all. To save the changes, click Apply.
