Both these brands have different domains. Razer is purely a gaming laptop, while Dell produces laptops for various purposes.
Dell provides laptops for moderate to high-level tasks as its Inspiron series is suitable for everyday tasks, XPS series for professional use, Precision for heavy tasks (mobile workstation), and the famous Alienware and G-Series are specific for gaming.
At the same time, Razer offers gaming-specific laptops like Razer Blade, Blade Pro, and Stealth. It also produces laptops for non-gamers; that series is called Razer Book.

The gaming machine is, however, more potent for gaming purposes, with better ports and connectivity.
Nevertheless, let me take you through an in-depth comparison of these two flagship devices. Our focus won’t be just gaming but also other graphics-intensive tasks and regular tasks keeping in view the battery life of these devices.
Dell XPS 15 Vs Razor Blade 15
We’ll compare the giant’s flagship devices based on 5 metrics we deem crucial for the performance of a laptop. But before going to features and performance-based comparison; first, check the Important Note below:
📝 Note: Before you make a decision, let me give you few tips. Check out the following articles: 1. Things to know before going to market for a new laptop. 2. When should you buy a new laptop? 3. When should you upgrade a new laptop?
Now let’s start the comparison:
1. Thorough Performance.
The Razor Blade variant is equipped with Intel’s 12 Gen Core i9 12900HK. This latest processor from Intel uses a hybrid architecture for performance and high efficiency using its 14 cores. In contrast, the XPS 15 uses the 11 Gen Core i9 11900H, using only 8 cores, a significant difference that will affect the machine’s performance directly. As per Intel, the 12 Gen processor is 30% faster than the 11 Gen Core i9 processor.
Another significant difference is the graphics card, as the Blade 15 uses Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 16 GB of GDDR memory (the top variant). Even the base variant has RTX 3060, with 6GB GDDR memory.
In contrast, XPS 15 is powered by GeForce RTX 3050 Ti with only 4GB of GDDR memory. There is a big difference in CUDA cores as well, as the gaming machine has up to 7424 CUDA cores while XPS has only 2560 CUDA Cores. By simply looking at the difference in numbers, Razer Blade 15 is ahead of Dell XPS 15 with a much more powerful configuration. While Blade 15 will perform better, it will drain the battery faster as powerful GPUs consume more battery.
Likewise, the XPS 15 supports up to 64GB of RAM with 8 TB support of two SSDs storage. Its rival, however, comes with 16GB of RAM and 1 TB of SSD storage, but you can upgrade it to 64GB of RAM and 4 TB of SSD storage. The RAM in Blade is also much faster because it supports DDR5. Overall, the winner in performance is the Razer Blade 15, powered by the latest processors and GPU.
2. Design and Durability.
The XPS 15 has a sleek design with decent finishing. Like its predecessors, it also comes in bright Platinum Silver with a black keyboard and black carbon palm rest. You can also find color options in this lineup, like Platinum Silver exterior with black interior or Frost Exterior with Arctic White interior. It is a slim laptop with dimensions of 13” width and 9” depth and weighs only 1.92 kg.
Conversely, the Blade 15 is more focused on performance rather than design. Even the latest models are the same in physical appearance. The most beautiful part is the per-key Chroma lights on the keyboard, a treat for gamers. Its dimensions are 9.25” by 13.98”, and it weighs 2.01 kg.
The durability is comparable as both these laptops have sturdy build quality with premium aluminum casing to offer longevity. Dell is a clear winner in design, offering more options than Blade.
The difference in displays of these laptops should be the deciding factor. It demonstrates that one has a gaming display while the other focuses on work and productivity. There is a significant difference in the aspect ratio, with Blade 15 having 16:9, perfect for gaming, and the competitor having 16:10, best for work and media playing.
Apart from the aspect ratio, the refresh rate has a huge difference. Blade 15 (2022) has three options with different refresh rates: Full HD with a refresh rate of 360Hz, Quad HD with a refresh rate of 240Hz, and a 4K display with a refresh rate of 144Hz. On the other hand, XPS 15 has a refresh rate of 60Hz across all three display options, including Full HD + IPS, 3.5K OLED display, and Ultra HD + IPS display.
If your core purpose is productivity, like color-sensitive designing rather than gaming, XPS 15 with Ultra HD + IPS will provide you the best results with 100% of Adobe RGB. The higher refresh rate on the gaming PC will drain the battery quickly. It is deciding whether to go for a gaming laptop or the other one.
4. Battery Backup.
Battery life plays a vital role in selecting the right laptop. Depending on your requirements, nature of work, and mobility, you should choose a computer that has a better battery life and doesn’t require connecting a charger now and then. With that being said, the XPS 15 is integrated with a 6-cell 86W battery that gives a backup of 11 hours on continuous usage, an impressive backup for this laptop’s category.
Moreover, the Blade 15 has an 80W battery, but the backup time could be more impressive, giving only 4-4.5 hours of backup. The reason is that high resource usage utilizes batteries more quickly. But battery backup doesn’t matter a lot for a gaming category laptop. If you are an on-the-go person, XPS is a more favorable option than its rival.
5. Number of Ports and Ease of Connectivity.
While Blade 15 is a classic gaming laptop, it has more options for connecting peripherals. It has a decent number of ports that fulfills all of your needs such as 4 Thunderbolts, 4 ports, three USB Type-A ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, an SD Card reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Its competitor, however, has only 2 Thunderbolt 4 USB Type-C ports, one USB Type-C (standard) port, an SD card reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There are options for docking an HDMI adaptor and USB Type-C to Type-A convertor, but those are external devices. Blade 15 is more convenient than its rival because of ports because all the ports are intact inside a single body.
The gaming PC from Razor wins the race in Wi-Fi connectivity with the latest Wi-Fi 6E integrated into its system, while the Dell XPS has Wi-Fi 5E. The Wi-Fi 6E is faster because it has 12 streams across 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Compared to that, Wi-Fi 5E has only 8 streams across the band. It gives a significant boost in speed and connectivity.

Both these machines perform well in regular tasks. One is specialized in gaming and is loaded with the latest processors and GPUs with a performance at par. The high number of cores and threads, along with CUDA cores, makes ground for flawless performance.
Durability is somewhat similar, but XPS 15 is better designed for professional tasks. This gaming giant has an extravagant display with a whopping refresh rate, and you can pick from three display options.
